We’re here to make sustainability second nature
I’m Mats, founder of Bonter. I’ve always believed sustainability shouldn’t be a chore, but my own experience told a different story. Like many living in apartments, I had no good solution for food scraps besides the regular trash. After searching for an option that was both practical and beautiful enough for my home—and finding nothing—I started Bonter. My mission is to create the tool I wish existed: one that makes composting an elegant, effortless, and natural part of modern life.
Frequently asked questions
Can I compost indoors?
Yes. We created Bonter One precisely because traditional composting methods are not suited for indoors. Our system eliminates the problems you might associate with composting: it’s completely silent, takes up minimal space, and is engineered to be entirely odor-free. It’s designed to be a seamless, clean, and welcome addition to your home.
Does it actually smell?
No. When used correctly, Bonter One is odor-free. The system is designed with tuned airflow and a carbon filter to ensure your kitchen stays fresh.
How much space does it take up?
Bonter One has a minimal footprint designed for small city kitchens. The exact dimensions will be released closer to launch, but it fits comfortably in a standard 40-50 cm space.
Can the compost worms escape?
This is a common concern, but you can rest assured: no. Think of the worms as happy residents; they won’t leave a home that has everything they need. Bonter One provides the perfect environment of food, moisture, and shelter.
On the rare occasion you might see a wandering worm, it’s not an infestation but a helpful signal that the conditions inside are temporarily off. The solution is usually simple, but the entire system is designed to prevent this from happening.
What if I don't have a garden?
The living compost is perfect for indoor plants and balcony herbs. You can also share your harvest with neighbors, a local school, or a community garden.
Do I need to be a composting expert?
Not at all. Bonter One is designed for beginners. Our guidance helps you get started in minutes. It’s a simple habit, not a complex hobby.
